Section 8 Assistance
THE SECTION 8 RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ALLOW FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS WHO QUALIFY A CHOICE OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
The Section 8 Programs are designed to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing for eligible participants. To provide improved living conditions for very low income families, elderly, non-elderly and disabled, while maintaining their rent at an affordable amount.
The Housing Authority will do inspection of the units to make sure they are safe and sanitary for families with children and for the elderly and disabled to reside. The Section 8 Program is designed so that the eligible participant can locate an apartment on their own that best suits their needs.
We do not provide the following housing types under our Section 8 Program: Single room occupancy, congregate housing, Group homes, Shared housing, Cooperative (including mutual housing) and Manufactured homes.
Once on the Section 8 Program, after one year the participant is able to port out and the subsidy stays with the participant and/or head of household.
